FG, FIRS Endorse MSME Finance Awards 2024

The Federal Government, alongside the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has endorsed the 2024 Annual MSME Finance Awards. This event aims to honor institutions and stakeholders driving financial inclusion and growth for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.

A statement released on Sunday confirmed that the awards, organized by The Economic Forum Series, Nairametrics, and DiGiComm Enterprises, will take place on September 27.

Jude Ndu, Chief Executive Officer of Economic Forum Media Limited, remarked, “The 2024 MSME Finance Awards underscores the increasing significance of MSMEs in the Nigerian economy. It provides a platform to celebrate organizations that are extending financial services to grassroots levels, fostering economic development.”

The awards feature several categories, including:

  • MSME Bank of the Year
  • Best MSME FinTech Payment Platform
  • Best MSME Microfinance Bank
  • MSME Insurance Company of the Year

Ugodre Obi-Chukwu, CEO of Nairametrics, highlighted the importance of data-driven insights in advancing MSMEs, stating, “At Nairametrics, we are committed to empowering MSMEs with the knowledge and data needed for sound decision-making.”

He also added that the awards recognize institutions that have led in innovation, effective execution, and sustainable practices within the MSME sector.

In addition, Ukaobisike Uzoije, CEO of DiGiComm Enterprises Ltd, emphasized that the awards will not only recognize excellence but also serve as a platform for thought leadership and knowledge sharing. “This event will bring together key MSME stakeholders to discuss the future of financial inclusion and its impact on small businesses in Nigeria,” Uzoije stated.

He further mentioned that the event has garnered support from key institutions, including the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Enhancing Financial Innovation & Access (EFInA), and the Fintech Association of Nigeria.

Additionally, financial institutions such as Access Bank, Sterling Bank, and Heirs Insurance are expected to contribute to the ceremony.

Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, Senior Special Assistant on Job Creation and MSMEs, announced that awardees will receive houses, cars, and cash prizes as part of the celebration.
